A passion for exceptional guest experiences fuels Alec Dalton’s leadership in service science. He pivoted from hotels to headquarters over the past decade, starting with the operation of five luxury properties and then holding various corporate roles with industry pioneers like Marriott International, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. In 2018, Hotel Management Magazine recognized him on the “30 Under 30” list for rising hospitality executives. More recently, Alec co-authored the international best-selling book Customer Experience, a guide to experience marketing, operations, and strategy.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, ACADEMIC ADVISING, UNDERGRADUATE ACADEMIC AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Liz Katz has been an Assistant Director in the Questrom Undergraduate Program Office since 2007. With a B.F.A. in Production Management for Theater and an Ed.M. in Higher Education from Boston University, this Massachusetts ‘South Shore’ native has been at BU since 1999! While she works primarily with the Questrom Honors Program and students in the Dual Degree Program, she meets with students of all class years and all schools to discuss everything from academic planning to hopes and dreams. When not at work she loves spending time with friends and family, reading, and planning her next travel adventure.

Leora Lanz

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF THE PRACTICE & CHAIR OF THE GRADUATE PROGRAM

Leora Halpern Lanz, ISHC has been an active leader and participant in the field of hospitality marketing since 1985, and has always been at the forefront of strategic marketing and communications. She was named the 2010 Hospitality Marketing Executive of the Year by the Big Apple (Greater New York) chapter of the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI). In February 2017, HSMAI ‘s national leadership awarded Leora as one of the Top 25 Extraordinary Minds of Hospitality Sales and Marketing for 2016. She was also honored as Professor of the Year for 2016-2017 by the students of Boston University’s School of Hospitality Administration. In November 2017, Leora was accepted as a member of the prestigious International Society of Hospitality Consultants. In November 2019, Leora Lanz was also named one of the “18 Women Paving the Way in Hospitality” by Lodging Magazine, and in early 2020 she was nominated as a Massachusetts Lodging Association Business Partner of the Year. 

In addition to serving as full-time faculty at BU’s School of Hospitality, Leora is Principal of LHL Communications, assisting hotels and hospitality organizations with content marketing, branding, media relations, digital and social media advisory, and online reputation management, including: development of internal and external position statements; content creation and story-telling for audience engagement and connections; media training, and “branding” and “solutions” sales training. Her clients include hospitality management and ownership companies, consulting firms and advisory services, regional investment conferences around the globe as well as owners’ associations.

Leora is an active member of the Public Relations Society of America, having served as chairperson of the PRSA Travel & Tourism Conferences in 1998 and 2000, and a member of the Society of American Travel Writers, and Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International. She is also a board member of the Cornell Club of Long Island, where she resides. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a master’s from Boston University. She has written for dozens of industry publications and excerpts of her articles are included in The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute Sales and Marketing textbook 6th edition, released in March 2014.

Gregory Sabin

SENIOR LECTURER, ACCOUNTING

Greg Sabin is a Senior Lecturer at the Questrom School of Business where he teaches managerial accounting and corporate finance.  He joined Boston University in 2016; he has taught at Harvard University, MIT, the Ohio State University and Michigan State University.  Dr. Sabin holds a DBA in finance from Sacred Heart University.  He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University.

Prior to moving to academia, Dr. Sabin spent 12 years in industry, where he held senior management roles for multi-national companies including Ford Motor Company, Honeywell International, the Kellogg Company and multiple portfolio companies owned by the private equity firm KKR.  His industry experience centers on international finance and operations.

His research also focuses on international corporate investment.  He has published papers for the Risk Institute and Harvard Business Publishing and presented his research internationally including industry conferences and invited presentations at universities in the United States, Europe and South America. Sabin has been a reviewer for many well-respected accounting and management journals.

Dr. Sabin teaches classes and seminars at the undergraduate, MBA, executive and doctoral levels.  Both his corporate finance and managerial accounting courses have consistently ranked among the highest-rated courses across the institutions where he has taught them. In 2011, Sabin was presented with the ‘Outstanding Faculty Award’ given annually at Michigan State University to recognize outstanding teaching at the school. Additionally, Sabin has twice been named the Finance instructor of the year at Michigan State University. His personal interests include spending time with his wife and two children, watching college sports, studying foreign languages, and traveling.

Yoo Jin Chung

SENIOR LECTURER, MANAGEMENT & ORGANIZATIONS | DIRECTOR, HUMPHREY FELLOWS PROGRAM

Dr. Yoo Jin Chung is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management and Organizations at Questrom School of Business at Boston University. Her teaching and research interests include cross-cultural management, global leadership, and global citizenship. She also serves as the Faculty Director of the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program at Boston University which is one of the most prestigious Fullbright scholarships funded by the U.S. Department of State. Dr. Chung designs and delivers global leadership seminars and advises mid-career professionals from around the world on their academic and professional development.

Rebecca Nichols

SENIOR LECTURER, OPERATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT

After 15 years working for the State of Maine in both the Department of Labor (Unemployment Insurance Division) and the Department of Health and Human Services (Reg. OMB Operations), Rebecca Nichols returned to Boston University to teach both Organizational Behavior and Management as a System at the then School of Management in 2007.  Nichols previously taught and coordinated the Org. Behavior course in 1995/96 during her transition from DOL to DHHS.  During her employment in State Govt., she was responsible for administration, integrity and training and overall operations regarding Unemployment Insurance Benefits for the MEDOL  She was also a key member of the transition team moving operations from local offices to regional call centers.  Nichols most recently worked as the Director of Regional OMB Operations for DHHS.  Within this role she oversaw several key operational areas for the department ranging from Federal Audit compliance, Labor Capital Management, Lease and Contract  Negotiation, Construction Management  and Capital Budgeting.   At Questrom, she currently teaches Business, Society and Ethics, Organizational Behavior and Career Management Classes. She is also a Team Consultant for the Questrom Team Learning Center.
